About Me

For those of you that don’t know who I am my name is Dawn O'Porter. I'm a 34 yr old broadcast and print journalist from the UK. I've made documentaries about all sorts of things from Polygamy to the movie Dirty Dancing. They've aired on the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Sky and FIVE in the UK, and WE TV and TLC in the US. Check out the TV page on this site for some clips.

My first fictional novel, Paper Aeroplanes, is out May 2nd and right now I'm writing the sequel, Goose. I am also author of Diaries of an Internet Lover (available on Amazon – it will make you blush) and have written for various press in the UK including, The Sunday Times, Cosmopolitan, Stylist Magazine, Glamour, Grazia, Company Magazine and many more.

I live in London but spend a lot of time in LA. I have an Irish husband called Chris, a Siamese cat called Lilu, and a rescue dog whose name is Potato.

I was born in Scotland, raised in Guernsey, I have a bob hair cut with a blunt fringe and I'm a sucker for a vintage dress. OH, and I love food and walk my dog for ages every morning to justify my addiction to fried potato.

Potatoes are a BIG part of my life.

My website is a special place for me because it’s all mine. There are no editors or producers telling me to SHHHH, and the only person to read a post before I send it to the masses is me. When you work in TV and print journalism, this is very exciting. So go in, get lost, and don't have a go at me about my spelling.
